BRIGHT LAND

Colored trees, blue sky,
Dark lake, very wild.
Light horizon, wispy clouds,
Pink, igneous rock:
My land!

Cobalt blue, copper green,
Cumulus sky,
Maple, birch, juniper,
I’m feelin’ fine!

Colored trees, blue sky,
Dark lake, very wild.
Light horizon, wispy clouds,
Pink, igneous, glimmering, shimmering,
molten, volcanic rock:
My land!

“Bright Land stood out from the other pictures. It was bright and wild. It looked so wild and free that it didn’t really care what it looked like. A lake in the middle was very startling. I felt like the mood of the picture and I knew at once that I wanted to make a poem of it.”

Have you ever been so excited by a beautiful day or an important event that made you want to write it down?  Have you tried writing your ideas down in a Poem?  In a short story?  Try it today! (it doesn’t even have to be a painting like Sarah Davidson’s inspiration…)

Now listen to Cole read the poem. Try it with your eyes closed!
